Mechanics Bank, City of Bakersfield and AEG announce new naming rights for arena

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., Sept. 12, 2019 — Mechanics Bank and the City of Bakersfield today announced new naming rights for the city’s downtown arena. Under the new agreement, which will remain in effect through January 2025, the popular facility will be named Mechanics Bank Arena, Theater & Convention Center. The name-change follows Mechanics Bank’s Sept. 1 merger with Rabobank, N.A., which previously held similar rights.

Home to the Bakersfield Condors, Bakersfield Symphony, and scores of concerts and other events each year, Mechanics Bank Arena, Theater & Convention Center is managed and operated by AEG Facilities.

“The range of integrated programs at the arena’s facilities are of tremendous benefit to residents across our region,” said Kathleen Kelly, Region Manager for Mechanics Bank. “Together with the City of Bakersfield and AEG, Mechanics Bank and its employees are committed to helping sustain and expand on programs that engage the entire community.”

“The arena, theater and convention center has been home to many different kinds of events over the years, bringing a variety of entertainment – from professional hockey, to concerts, high school wrestling and children’s programs – to the residents of Bakersfield and beyond,” said Alan Tandy, City of Bakersfield City Manager. “While the name on the outside is changing, the City expects the same level of entertainment options will continue to be available to the public going forward and the City is excited as the downtown arena moves into a new era.”

“Mechanics Bank has a long history in California of investing its energy and resources in valuable programs and events that bring the community together,” said Steve Eckerson, General Manager of AEG Facilities’ Mechanics Bank Arena. “They’re a terrific partner who shares our values and long-term goals.”
