YUBA CITY, CA, October 13, 2011 — Mechanics Bank has opened a loan production office in Yuba City to offer a full array of commercial, agricultural and small business lending products.

“This is a natural extension of our Sacramento-area lending footprint,” said Senior Vice President and Region Manager Tim Kassis, head of corporate lending in Sacramento. “We already serve a number of customers in the area, and this will provide local borrowers with greater convenience and the kind of personal service for which the bank is known.”

The Yuba City loan production office, located at 1110 Civic Center Blvd., Suite 504B, is headed by Kash Gill, a well-known local resident who until late last year served as Mayor of the city. He joined the Roseville Corporate Banking Office of Mechanics Bank as a Vice President-Senior Relationship Manager in January, 2011.

A seasoned banker whose career has been centered in and around Sutter County, Mr. Gill began his career with Wells Fargo Bank in Yuba City. He later worked for Feather River State Bank and then Butte Community Bank, where he was instrumental in building its agriculture portfolio. In 2006, Mr. Gill was elected to the city council of Yuba City and subsequently was appointed as Vice Mayor and then Mayor. His term came to a close at the end of 2010.

Mr. Gill’s family emigrated from India when he was a young child, and began farming in the area in 1970. He and his wife Neena still farm 200 acres of peaches, prunes, and walnuts in Yuba City, where they have raised three children.

“I’ve lived here my entire life and we feel deeply connected to this area,” said Mr. Gill. “I feel so fortunate to be able to bring Mechanics Bank’s lending capabilities home to Yuba City.”

Mr. Gill is a graduate of California State University in Chico with a Bachelor’s degree in agricultural business. He also graduated from the California Agricultural Leadership Program and the Graduate School of Banking, Boulder, Colorado. In addition to his public service as Mayor, Vice-Mayor, and Council member for Yuba City, he has served as chair of the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce; as a board member and chair of the Fremont-Rideout Hospital Foundation and of the Sutter Health Foundation, and was a co-chair of a local school bond issue.
