Fundraising for youth and special needs sailing programs

Richmond, CA, September 5, 2008—Mechanics Bank has become a Gold Sponsor of the Big Team Regatta San Francisco 2008, a corporate sailing challenge to benefit the youth sailing programs of Treasure Island Sailing Center (TISC). The bank also is sponsoring a 4-member sailing team in the event, which takes place October 3rd on San Francisco Bay.

The TISC Youth and Adaptive Sailors Program serves thousands of kids from Bay Area youth organizations such as YMCA, SF Boys and Girls Clubs, Malcolm X Academy, and I Have a Dream Foundation, among others. TISC uses sailing to help the kids develop skills to stay in school, experience new challenges, and continue their pursuit of education and jobs. Its adaptive sailing program helps disabled athletes prepare and compete in sailboat racing, even against fully able-bodied individuals.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the event or making a contribution may contact Chris Cole, Vice President and Senior Relationship Manager of Private Banking for the Wealth Management Group at Mechanics Bank in San Francisco (415. 249.0312.)
