Richmond, CA, April 10, 2008--Kirsten E. Weisser, Executive Vice President of Mechanics Bank's Wealth Management Group, has been named one of the Bay Area's "100 Most Influential Women" by the San Francisco Business Times. Weisser, who oversees private banking, investment management and trust, and retail brokerage services for the bank, was selected for the second year in a row.

The program "shines a light on women who have advanced to high places in their companies and their careers, which in turn lights the way for so many others to follow," according to the publication.

Weisser, a banker with more than a quarter century of experience providing wealth management advisory services to Bay Area clients, is a fourth generation Berkeley native and Cal graduate (AB political science, 1981.) She began her banking career in 1982 in the trust and investment department of Crocker National Bank, later acquired by Wells Fargo. She joined U.S. Trust Company as senior vice president in the San Francisco office in 1997, serving as the senior fiduciary officer in Northern California until joining Mechanics Bank in 2005.

“Kirsten exemplifies the commitment of our employees to give their personal best every day,” said Steve Buster, president and CEO of Mechanics Bank. “She is a role model for all of us as we strive to be trusted financial partners to our clients and our communities."

Weisser serves on the board of the Oakland Community Pools Project, which serves low income youth in east and west Oakland neighborhoods. She also serves on the Council of Friends of the Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley, on the Professional Advisory council of the San Francisco Ballet and on the Professional Advisory Council of the East Bay Community Foundation.

She lives in Oakland with her husband, Professor Joseph Tuman and her son, Nate, a high school senior. Daughter Helen attends UC Santa Cruz.
