DIANNE DAISS FELTON JOINS CAL PERFORMANCES BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Richmond, CA, September, 2009 -- Dianne Daiss (“DD”) Felton, Vice Chairman of the Board of Mechanics Bank, has been elected to the board of trustees of Cal Performances, the nation’s premier university-based performing arts presenter and producer.

The organization, based at UC Berkeley, is responsible for managing two UC-owned facilities—Zellerbach Hall and the Greek Theatre—and for producing not only its own events but more than a hundred events for other organizations that rent out the facilities. Its 2009-2010 season alone included over 90 Cal Performances— highlighted by the Suzanne Farrell Ballet, Mark Morris Dance Group, Merce Cunningham and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, a solo performance by opera star Renee Fleming and a production by the celebrated Shakespeare Globe Theatre group.

“Few people here in the Bay Area are aware of the remarkable work of Cal Performances,” said Felton who graduated from UC Berkeley. “With only 3.5% of their budget coming from the University, they manage through ticket sales and fundraising to attract world class talents, and handle some of the most complex and challenging productions imaginable. I am truly looking forward to providing whatever guidance I can to this remarkable organization.”
