Mechanics Bank Sponsors East Bay Holiday Food Drives



RICHMOND, CA, October 29, 2012 — Mechanics Bank is sponsoring the 2012 Holiday Food Drives for the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano and the Alameda Community Food Bank.

Beginning this week, the Mechanics Bank will accept food drop-offs for Contra Costa and Solano at many of its East Bay locations, including El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Richmond Hilltop, Kensington, Richmond Mira Vista, Pinole, Pinole Vista, Point Richmond, Rodeo, San Pablo, Concord, Lafayette, Orinda, Pittsburg, Moraga, and Walnut Creek (both at its Administrative headquarters and its retail office locations.)

Food for the Alameda County Community Food Bank will be accepted at the bank’s Albany, Berkeley, North Berkeley, West Berkeley and Oakland offices.

“This is one more way we partner with the communities we serve,” says Fernanda Rodrigues, Mechanics Bank Community Affairs Officer. “For over 100 years Mechanics Bank has been helping nonprofit organizations meet the needs of families and individuals during challenging times.”

Among the most sought-after food donations are canned meat, fish and soups, canned ready-to-eat meals, canned fruits, vegetables and tomato products, peanut butter (preferably in a plastic container), iron-rich cereal (45% more DRV), 100% fruit juice (plastic bottles), dry beans of any type, enriched rice or pasta and powdered milk.
