DAVID J. ZIEGLER JOINS MECHANICS BANK’S SAN FRANCISCO CORPORATE BANKING OFFICE

San Francisco, CA, October 11, 2007—David J. Ziegler has joined Mechanics Bank as Vice President in the San Francisco Corporate Banking office. His responsibilities will include developing relationships with middle market Commercial and Industrial clients for loans, treasury management and deposit products.

Ziegler was previously Vice President at the Peninsula Bank of Commerce, where he managed a varied portfolio of commercial and industrial, construction and commercial real estate investors. Before joining Peninsula Bank of Commerce, he held banking positions with Tamalpais Bank, Citibank, and Wells Fargo, where he began his banking career in 1988. In addition, Ziegler served as a Customer Relationship Management Consultant with Thought Velocity, a software integrator and value-added retailer, and as Vice President, Sales and Marketing with Dolce Mia Designs, a privately-held manufacturer specializing in household goods.

“To be a good corporate banker, you have to be able to understand your clients’ businesses, analyze their specific needs, and know how to tailor a unique package of services that will meet them,” said Mike Popovich, Senior Vice President and head of Mechanics Bank’s Corporate Banking Group in the San Francisco Region. “David’s combination of corporate, consulting and relationship management experience—in addition to a superb banking background—makes him ideally suited to the job.”

A graduate of Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California with an Associate of Arts degree in Business/Computer Sciences, Ziegler received his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations/Business Administration at San Francisco State University. He also has completed a variety of specialized courses in credit analysis, SBA lending, Corporate Finance, and IT project management, as well as an internship at the U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration, where he reported to the Executive Director organizing and promoting export seminars.

An advocate for quality child care, Ziegler serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Children’s Council of San Francisco (CCSF.) where he has served for over 6 years. He is an avid traveler, fluent in French, and a student of European cultures and business practices.

He is a long-time resident of San Francisco with his wife and son, and enjoys sailing, bicycling, skiing, and hiking with family and friends in his spare time.

Mechanics Bank is headquartered in Richmond, California. The century-old family-owned community bank is one of the largest independent banks headquartered in Northern California, with more than $2.7 billion in assets.
