Opening a New Account - Funding Your Account

Thank you for your interest in becoming a client of Mechanics Bank. Below are frequently asked questions regarding our online account opening process. Please contact us if you have any questions.

What are my funding options for my opening deposit?

At this time, you will be able to fund your account once it is opened by visiting one of our offices, or by mailing a check to us. Instructions to mail a check will be provided to you when we send out your new account packet.

When are my opening deposit funds available for withdrawal if I visit an office or mail in my deposit?

Our policy is to make funds from your deposit available on the first business day after we receive the deposit. In some cases, we will not make all or part of the funds that you deposit by check available to you immediately. Depending on the type of check that you deposit, funds may not be available until the fifth business day after the deposit. You will be notified if any deposit holds are placed on your account and when these funds will be made available. Can I make my deposit at my local Mechanics Bank office?

Yes. You can make a deposit at any Mechanics Bank office that is convenient for you. Be sure to let your Service Representative know that you have submitted your account application online. Note: Mechanics Bank will not complete the opening of an account without some form of deposit. If you go into an office, the branch will open the account.

When are mail in deposits available for withdrawal?

Mail in deposits are processed the day they are received by the Bank. The funds availability is dependent on whether you have any holds placed on your deposit. You will be notified if any holds are placed via U.S. mail. Wire transfers or electronic funds transfers from another financial institution are an alternative to mailing in your deposits if you reside outside of the Mechanics Bank service area.
