THE MECHANICS BANK APPOINTS JOE WOOD TO MANAGE ORINDA OFFICE

RICHMOND, California, September 12, 2006—Joe Wood has joined The Mechanics Bank as Vice President and Manager of the Orinda Office, replacing Bradley Herzog, who has moved to the bank’s East Bay Regional Lending Group in Walnut Creek.

Wood, 57, has a long history in Orinda, where he managed the Wells Fargo Office for ten years prior to joining The Mechanics Bank. In his 31-year career at Wells he also worked in the Customer Retention and Private Banking divisions.

A graduate of California State University, Hayward, with a degree in Business Administration, Wood is an Oakland native who now lives in Lafayette with his wife Roxanne and their daughter.
